European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has admitted that the seized Russian assets could be used to finance the reconstruction of Ukraine after the war.
According to European Truth, she said this in her speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Ursula von der Leyen recalled the reconstruction plan she proposed to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, noting that the platform would require donors from around the world – “from any country concerned about Ukraine’s future, from international financial institutions and the private sector.” .
“We need everyone’s participation. This has already been called the ‘Marshall Plan’ for Ukraine. And we must attract all opportunities – including, if possible, Russian assets ,” said the President of the European Commission.
She also reminded that this reconstruction plan should combine investments with ambitious reforms – modernization of governance, rule of law and independence of the judiciary, fight against corruption, building a transparent, stable and competitive economy, which is important for Ukraine on the road to the EU.
In her speech, Ursula von der Leyen also said that Ukraine must win this war , and for Putin his aggression should turn into a strategic defeat.
