Dr. Chaim Rozwaski

A message from the UFF Chairman

Rabbi Dr. Chaim Rozwaski

Chairman

Rabbi Dr. Chaim Rozwaski was born in Poland 1935. He survived the German occupation by being hidden in forests and farms. Both of his parents were murdered along with most of his family members. Following a stay in a displaced persons camp in Germany, in 1946 he was permitted entry to Canada in a program for Jewish orphans. There he attended the Hebrew Theological College at Skokie, Illinois and received his doctorate in Talmudic law in Baltimore.

Rabbi Rozwaski was rabbi at Peekskill, New York and Temple Beth El in Orlando, Florida. He became senior minister to the Southend and Westcliff Hebrew Congregation (SWHC) and was rabbi at Suburban Park Jewish Center-Congregation Lev Torah on Long Island. In 1998, he took up a post in Berlin as dean for the newly-established Lauder Judisches Lehrhaus.

He is the author of several books on the Holocaust and on Jewish spirituality. A revered Rabbi not only in the international Jewish Community, he is strongly engaged in refugee and internally displaced persons questions.

Monsignore Gianfranco Girotti

Monsignore Gianfranco Girotti

Vatican

Monsignore Gianfranco Girotti, Order of the Friars Minor Conventual, born in Rome 1937, titular bishop, Regent Emeritus of the Apostolic Penitentiary, previously Under-Secretary of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, holds a degree in Philosophy from the Pontifical Urbaniana University, a licentiate in sacred theology from the Pontifical Theological Faculty “St. Bonaventura”, a doctorate utroque jure from the Pontifical Lateran University and a lawyer’s diploma from the Roman Rota.

Following his dedication to the doctrine, he taught Law at the Pontifical Urban University. At the ecclesiastical tribunal of the Latium region, he served as a judge.

Monsignore Girotti is an outspoken and polarising critic of the increased criminal trends in society in general. He earned wide-spread support and publicity for the first time in a 2008 press conference, warning drug dealers, the obscenely rich, environmental polluters and genetic scientists that they were in danger of committing mortal sins. In 2014, during the Mafia Capitale criminal inquiry in Italy, he denounced that the investigation was bringing to light an “obscene and disturbing system that raises concerns about the aims and intentions” and that “a worrying and tremendous undergrowth is coming to the surface that can only arouse reproach and indignation”. He is a proactive advocate of the concept of Forgiveness in the Christian Faith.
