Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has addressed the audience from Kyiv on a screen during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Monday, May 23, 2022. The annual meeting of the World Economic Forum is taking place in Davos from May 22 until May 26, 2022.
“Don’t expect Russia to use nuclear weapons” – Zelenskyy calls for sanctions that will work for decades.
President Volodymyr Zelensky called on the world to resist Russia now, rather than waiting for it to use chemical, biological or nuclear weapons.
He said this during a speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Zelensky noted that Russia has challenged everyone that the world really values.
“Bruce force seeks nothing but the subjugation of those it seeks to subdue. It does not discuss, it kills at once. As Russia does right now as we communicate. We need to change our approach, not react, but act. And act preventively and not only to adapt to new realities what we have, and to create new tools, new precedents “, – he told.
The president urged not to wait for Russia’s use of chemical, biological or nuclear weapons.
“Do not give the aggressor the impression that the world will not put up enough resistance. Protect freedom and a normal world order that is good for everyone,” he said.
Zelensky called on the world to tighten sanctions so that Russia and every other potential aggressor “know exactly what it immediately leads to.”
“I don’t think there are any such sanctions against Russia yet. And they should be. An embargo on Russian oil, a complete blockade of all banks, without excluding all. A complete abandonment of the Russian IT sector, a complete cessation of trade with the aggressor,” he said.
According to him, it is necessary to set a precedent for the complete exit of all foreign businesses from the Russian market, so that these brands are not associated with war crimes, and company offices, their accounts and goods are not used by war criminals.
“We offer every company that leaves the Russian market to continue operating in Ukraine. You will gain access not only to our market of 40 million consumers, but also access to the common market of Europe. And at the same time your brands and positions will only grow because you you will really support the protection of freedom, “Zelensky said.
